Case Study: Hampton’s Recruitment of Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Writer

Hamptons Resourcing has been proudly supporting local authorities across the United Kingdom in the recruitment of their professional executive teams since 2014.

Our consultant, Beckie Stokes, was able to quickly lend her expertise to this returning client who sought Hamptons assistance.

The brief

Recruitment Challenge

A local authority in the East of England faced an urgent recruitment drive for an EHCP Writer to support children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The role required a professional who was experienced in drafting detailed, legally compliant EHC plans, in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice.

Hamptons’ Approach

Having previously placed the client’s Hiring Manager, Hamptons was approached directly by the client to fill this vacancy. The recruitment process was initiated on 9th April, with the selected candidate interviewed only two days later, commencing their role on 20th April.

Thanks to Hamptons, the swiftness of identifying the chosen candidate eliminated the need for the client to advertise the position externally on alternative job boards. The successful candidate was already employed at another local authority, demonstrating Hamptons’ ability to identify and engage top talent swiftly.

Candidate Placement

The selected EHC Plan Writer possessed a strong background in SEND casework and their expertise in liaising with families, schools, and healthcare professionals ensured the delivery of comprehensive and compliant EHC plans. This strategic placement not only filled the immediate vacancy but also enhanced the quality of care and support provided to children and young people within the authority.
