We are excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and proactive Deputy Manager to join a well-established residential care provider in Exeter. This dual-registered home provides high-quality care for young people with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). As part of a supportive team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the home and the wellbeing of the residents.
The Role: Deputy Manager
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Home Manager in overseeing the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring a high standard of care and safeguarding for all young people. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting the Home Manager in running the home efficiently, with a focus on maintaining professional standards of care.
Overseeing the welfare of the young people, ensuring their emotional, social, and physical needs are met.
Managing the team of care staff, providing support, guidance, and supervision where necessary.
Ensuring care is provided in line with National Standards and the regulatory framework.
Developing strong relationships with external stakeholders, such as social workers and local authorities, to ensure optimal occupancy and quality service delivery.
Participating in personal development activities, keeping your skills and knowledge current in line with best practices in residential childcare.
Contributing to the Home Manager’s development plan with clear, SMART objectives that focus on continuous improvement and service delivery.
About You:
To be successful in this role, you should have:
Significant experience within residential childcare, ideally in a senior role, with a passion and commitment to the welfare of young people.
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification.
In-depth knowledge of Children’s Home Regulations, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters, and the Children Act.
Practical experience working with young people with EBD and LD, with a clear understanding of the challenges they face.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively.
