Children’s Home Registered Manager (EBD)

Salary: Up to £56,600 (includes bonuses)
Specific Hours: 40 hours per week
The Role
We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Registered Manager for a 3-bed EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) children’s home in Camden, London. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a minimum of 2–3 years’ management experience and a strong background in supporting young people aged 11–17 with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

As Registered Manager, you will be fully accountable for the overall management of the home and responsible for ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will lead by example, driving a culture of continuous improvement, and ensuring the home provides a safe, stable, and therapeutic environment for young people with EBD.

You will manage and develop the staff team, ensuring they are supported, trained, and motivated to deliver exceptional care. Your role will also include working directly with the young people, promoting positive outcomes, and ensuring that their individual needs and aspirations are met.

Key Responsibilities:
Full operational management of the home in line with Ofsted standards
Lead and manage the staff team to ensure a high standard of care and professional practice
Ensure the home meets all regulatory and legislative requirements, including safeguarding and health & safety
Develop and maintain effective care plans that are tailored to the individual needs of each young person
Build positive relationships with young people, staff, families, and external agencies
Promote the emotional, physical, educational, and social development of young people
Manage budgets, staffing rotas, and administrative duties
Ensure staff receive regular supervision, appraisal, and ongoing training
Prepare the home for Ofsted inspections and strive for Outstanding ratings
Take part in the on-call rota and provide direct support as required
Create a culture of high aspiration, achievement, and positive outcomes for all young people
Requirements:
NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management (Children and Young People) or equivalent
Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent)
Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a managerial role within a children’s residential care setting
Proven experience of working with young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
Strong understanding of Children’s Home Regulations, Quality Standards, and safeguarding procedures
Effective leadership, communication, and organisational skills
Passion for supporting young people to achieve their full potential
Ability to manage challenging behaviours and complex situations with resilience and professionalism
Clear enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undertake one)
Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and take part in the on-call rota as required

Ofsted bonuses – £3,000 for an Outstanding report, £1,500 for a Good report

The post is subject to a six-month probationary period and three months' notice on either side thereafter, other than in cases of disciplinary or malpractice issues.
