Team Leader opportunity for a childcare focussed individual in Manchester…

We are currently looking for x2 experienced and compassionate childcare managerial professionals to join my well established clients team as a Team Leader in one of their 5 good-outstanding OFSTED rated homes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to play a pivotal part in the day-to-day running of a children’s home and help shape the lives of young people in need, alongside a strong committed team

The Role:

  • Communicating goals and deadlines to colleagues, planning workloads and delegating tasks to your colleagues, this via communication platform and direct, and creating a productive work environment for the team whilst providing a high level of support, and trust.
  • Assessing team performance and providing feedback to employees around performance, development, and learning.
  • Assisting with the daily operation of the home, and ensuring the needs of the children are the priority and creating / maintaining a structured, calming environment for them.
  • Supporting new starters in the home, helping induct them, and ensuring they operate in with the young people’s needs as a priority.
  • Completing a minimum of 1 to 2 supervisions of your working colleagues in line with the Registered Managers request.
  • Ensure a high level of knowledge of all compliance documents and file systems within the home alongside ensuring maintenance of administrative systems for children’s casework records, referrals and assessments, including risk assessments – adhering to confidentiality and standards at all times.
  • To ensure a robust and dynamic induction procedure is adhered to by all colleagues and new starters.
  • Ensure the home is Ofsted ready at all times and prepare to respond to all requirements. This includes supporting the registered manager during inspections.
  • Ensure clear, consistent and professional record keeping for the children and young people.
  • Ensure that all safeguarding legislation, policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • To develop a shared planning approach in partnership with children, their relatives and other professionals involved in their care.
  • Keeping track of the home’s systems, compliance and young people’s needs and being capable to lead Ofsted inspections in the registered managers absence.
  • Being competent to lead regulation 44 visits.
  • Ensure that participation in a range of therapeutic, social and recreational activities/opportunities for individual or groups of young people is encouraged, and maintaining / organising any necessary healthcare.
  • To ensure that all children have a full and appropriate education timetable, and form positive relationships within education institutions; leading promoting and advocating for the educational needs and rights of the child.

About you
Qualifications:

  • Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
  • Level 5 in Leadership and Management (or working towards, the Company will support the successful candidate in achieving this if needs be)
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Flexibility for shifts / stepping in for Registered Manager when necessary

Experience

  • Experience working with children and young people, in a childcare focussed residential setting.
  • Committed to the wellbeing of young people and the ability to apply this to the smooth running of the home
  • Previous successful experience in a managerial role such as a Deputy Manager or Registered Manager role.
  • Knowledge of OFSTED regulations and the ability to apply this to the running and day to day of the home.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, especially with children and young people and with your colleagues
  • Thorough understanding of: The Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015, Children Act 2004, Care Act 2014 and other relevant legislation, Working Together to Safeguard Children, The Homes Statement of Purpose, The Code of Conduct and Behaviour and relevant policies.
  • A positive, can-do, warming demeanour within the work place.
