About the Role

Our client are looking for a Deputy Manager to join a specialist residential care team supporting children and young people from diverse backgrounds. You will play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stable environment where young people can develop life skills, achieve their potential, and thrive.

In this role, you will:

  • Support children and young people to achieve their best outcomes.

  • Assist with the day-to-day running of the home alongside the Registered Manager.

  • Lead and support the staff team, delegating duties and ensuring high standards of care.

  • Help maintain compliance with legislation and regulations.

  • Foster a positive culture and professional practice within the home.

  • Participate in rota management, occasional sleep-ins, and on-call duties.

You will act as a role model for young people and staff, demonstrating professionalism, strong communication, and effective leadership in a homely, non-judgmental environment.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Residential Care or NVQ Level 4 in Children, Young People & Family Practitioner.

  • Experience working in residential childcare settings, supporting children with social, emotional, or behavioral difficulties.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop staff.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with young people, colleagues, and external professionals.

  • Flexibility to work across a 7-day rota, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.

  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, anti-discriminatory practice, and child protection legislation.

You will demonstrate professionalism at all times, both in appearance and behavior, and act as a positive role model to both staff and young people.
