Salary: £31,000 – £34,000 per annum
Hours: Full-Time (flexible to rota)

Overview
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Deputy Manager to join a 3-bed EBD children’s residential home in Smithaleigh, Devon. This is a key operational role supporting the Registered Manager to deliver high-quality, child-centred care and ensuring the home remains safe, nurturing, and compliant.
The Role: Deputy Manager
Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home.
Ensure a safe, caring, and stable environment for children and young people.
Lead, supervise, and mentor the staff team, promoting a positive and therapeutic culture.
Assist with compliance to Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements.
Oversee care plans, risk assessments, behaviour management strategies, and safeguarding procedures.
Support with audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Take part in recruitment, inductions, staff development, and performance management.
Build strong relationships with external professionals, families, and local authorities.
Promote positive outcomes through child-focused practice and trauma-informed approaches.
About You
Experience working as a Senior Support Worker, Team Leader, or Deputy within a children’s residential setting.
Strong understanding of Ofsted inspections, Quality Standards, and safeguarding responsibilities.
Passionate about improving the lives of vulnerable young people.
Confident, supportive leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – required.
Working towards or willing to enrol onto the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare.
Full UK driving licence.
