ROLE:
We are seeking a committed and experienced Deputy Children’s Home Manager. This full-time role (40 hours per week) will involve working closely with the management team to ensure a safe, nurturing environment that promotes empowerment, independence, and choice for looked after young people.
You will play a key part in developing the skills young people need to move towards independence and success in their lives. This is a great opportunity to join a leading children’s care organisation dedicated to making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
About You:
We are looking for someone who has:
At least two years’ experience in residential childcare within the last five years
Minimum one year’s experience supervising and managing professional staff
Sound knowledge of Children’s Homes regulations including Quality Standards 2015, The Children’s Homes (Amendment) Regulations 2011, Care Standards Act 2000, Ofsted requirements, and related legislation
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – mandatory
A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Children and Young People’s Services (or willingness to work towards)
A passion for providing outstanding care and creating positive, lasting change
Suitability to work with children (a DBS certificate is required)
A proactive, supportive leadership style and excellent communication skills

Key Responsibilities:
Support the Registered Manager with all operational and leadership duties
Assist in maintaining regulatory compliance and high-quality care standards
Lead and support care staff, providing supervision and mentorship
Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to
Contribute to developing personalised care plans for young people
Help create a nurturing, safe, and structured environment
Maintain accurate records and reports in line with Ofsted requirements
Participate in shift work including day shifts, night shifts, sleep-ins, holidays, and weekends
