Role:

We are seeking an experienced and values-driven Deputy Manager to support the effective day-to-day running of a specialist residential service supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs. Working closely with the Home Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of care, supporting staff performance, and ensuring residents receive safe, person-centred support that promotes dignity, independence, and wellbeing.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will assist with operational oversight and will assume full management responsibility in the absence of the Home Manager. You will lead by example, support regulatory compliance, and help embed a positive, values-led culture across the home.

• Passionate about supporting people with learning disabilities and complex needs
• Knowledgeable in CQC standards, safeguarding procedures, and regulatory compliance
• Confident in leading, supervising, and developing care staff through training, coaching, and appraisal
• A strong communicator, able to build positive relationships with residents, families, colleagues, and external professionals
• Committed to person-centred care and promoting choice, independence, and inclusion
• Calm, resilient, and able to respond effectively to behaviours of concern using positive approaches

What’s On Offer:

• A key leadership role within a specialist learning disability service
• The opportunity to work within a values-led organisation focused on high-quality, person-centred care
• Support and guidance from an experienced Home Manager and wider leadership team
• A positive, supportive working environment that prioritises staff development and wellbeing
• The chance to make a meaningful and lasting difference to the lives of the people supported

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Home Manager with the day-to-day operational management of the service
• Assume delegated management responsibilities in the absence of the Home Manager
• Lead, supervise, and support care staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care
• Support pre-admission assessments and ongoing reviews of residents’ needs
• Ensure care plans, daily records, and risk assessments are accurate and up to date
• Monitor residents’ wellbeing and oversee medication management
• Act as safeguarding lead when required, escalating concerns appropriately
• Ensure compliance with CQC, health & safety, infection control, and organisational policies
• Maintain positive communication with residents, families, and external professionals
• Promote a positive team culture and encourage meaningful social engagement for residents

Education and Qualification:

• Relevant health or social care qualification — desirable
• Training or experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) — desirable
