London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham
Head of Service: Mental Health and Principal Social Worker
£71,763 – £95,952 per annum
Do you have a passion for enhancing mental health services and creating lasting change within the community? We are offering an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and forward-thinking Adult Social Care leadership team, where you will play a key role in shaping the future of mental health support. Based in the vibrant and diverse borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, this role gives you the chance to make a meaningful difference to the lives of adults across our community.
Reporting to the Assistant Director (Living well) you will:
- Exercise a high degree of personal and professional autonomy and make critical judgments in the field of Mental Health, Approved Mental Health Professionals (AMPHs), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and other statutory functions.
- Provide strategic leadership and operational leadership of specialist Adult Social Care services, to ensure effective delivery of services.
- Use an understanding of the changing demographic profile of adults to manage increasingly complex demands within an extremely challenging financial environment.
- Engage with and develop effective partnerships within the local health and social care economy to maximise opportunities to enable adults to live independently and exercise choice and control over their lives.
- Be accountable for the service performance in line with national, departmental and shared health performance targets and standards.
- Lead and be responsible for the quality of care across the service, ensuring high standards of practice and continuous professional development, including compliance with statutory frameworks such as the Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults framework and protocols, the Mental Health Act and the Quality Assurance Framework.
- To support the implementation of the Council’s values and commitment to co-production both in Adult Social Care and across the Council.
- To lead the review, development and implementation of Adult Social Care’s integrated approach to service delivery in the relevant services, coordinating with stakeholders across the Health and Care Partnership.
- To lead on decisions, sometimes where precedents do not exist, in relation to adults without recourse to others, and to advise and support colleagues where standard protocols may not apply.
- Work closely with the commissioning team to ensure the development of services to meet the assessed needs of the population.
