The Role: Interim Educational Psychologist
About You:
An Educational Psychologist plays a crucial role in supporting the emotional, cognitive, and educational development of students. Their work helps identify and address learning difficulties and challenges, ensuring that students receive the support they need to thrive academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment & Evaluation:
Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations of students to identify learning difficulties, behavioral issues, and other challenges.
Use a range of tools, including interviews, standardized tests, and observations to assess cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Analyze assessment results to develop tailored educational plans and interventions.
Intervention & Support:
Design and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students, focusing on their academic, emotional, and social development.
Work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' needs and provide appropriate interventions.
Recommend therapeutic or behavioral strategies to help students overcome barriers to learning.
Consultation & Collaboration:
Advise school staff on best practices for supporting students with diverse learning needs.
Collaborate with other professionals (e.g., speech therapists, special education staff) to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
Provide guidance to parents on how to support their child's learning and emotional well-being at home.
Research & Development:
Stay up to date with the latest research in educational psychology and incorporate findings into practice.
Contribute to the development of policies and practices that improve the educational experience for all students.
Crisis Intervention:
Provide support in crisis situations, such as helping students cope with trauma, loss, or behavioral crises.
Offer guidance on handling difficult classroom behaviors and supporting mental health needs.
Professional Development:
Offer training and workshops for teachers and school staff on psychological principles, student well-being, and effective teaching strategies.
Supervise and mentor trainee educational psychologists or other professionals in the field.
Required Qualifications:
A postgraduate degree in Educational Psychology (typically a master's or doctorate).
Full registration with a recognized regulatory body (e.g., Health and Care Professions Council in the UK).
Strong understanding of educational theories, child development, and psychological assessment techniques.
Excellent communication skills, both with children and adults.
Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable Skills:
Knowledge of specific learning difficulties (e.g., ADHD, dyslexia) and strategies for intervention.
Experience working with children and young people in educational settings.
Familiarity with legal frameworks and policies related to special education and student welfare.
What's On Offer: A rate of £600 – £625 per day, inside IR35 on an initial 3 month contract, remote working.
