Hampton’s are supporting the recruitment for an exciting opportunity to become the Registered Manager of a brand-new 3-bed children’s residential home in Smithaleigh, Devon. This role offers the chance to build a high-quality service from the ground up and create a nurturing, safe, and positive environment where young people can thrive.
The Role: Registered Manager – New Children’s Home
Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, ensuring compliance with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
Lead the opening, set-up, and full operational management of the new 3-bed home.
Establish a positive, child-centred culture and embed best practice from day one.
Recruit, supervise, develop, and inspire a new staff team.
Ensure high standards of care planning, record-keeping, and regulatory compliance.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, health, education, and external agencies.
Manage referrals and occupancy to ensure the home reaches and maintains full capacity.
Oversee budgets, rotas, staffing, and day-to-day operational performance.
About You
Strong knowledge of the Quality Standards and Ofsted inspection frameworks.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards).
Level 3 Residential Childcare or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year experience as a Deputy Manager or Registered Manager within a children’s home.
Confident leader with the ability to inspire, motivate, and support a high-performing team.
Experience with new service openings is desirable but not essential.
Full UK driving licence and Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred).
