Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to open and lead a brand-new children’s residential home in Northfield, Birmingham. This is a pivotal leadership role, offering the chance to shape a new service from the ground up while working for an established provider known for delivering high-quality EBD and LD services.
You will play a vital role in building a nurturing, safe, and therapeutic environment that supports children and young people to achieve positive outcomes and long-term stability.
The Role: Registered Manager
Lead and manage the setup, registration, and operational launch of a new children’s residential home.
Ensure full compliance with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted requirements.
Provide strong, values-led leadership that inspires, motivates, and develops your staff team.
Oversee safeguarding, care planning, risk management, behaviour strategies, and staff development.
Build a warm, child-centred culture that is therapeutic, consistent, and outcomes-focused.
Establish strong relationships with local authorities, social workers, health professionals, and partner agencies.
Monitor performance through audits, data analysis, and reflective practice; drive continuous improvement and inspection readiness.
Contribute to wider organisational growth, service development, and embedding best practice across the region.
About You
Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a children’s residential care setting (EBD and/or LD).
Strong understanding of Ofsted regulation, Quality Standards, and children’s residential legislation.
Hold (or be working towards) the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare.
Confident, resilient, and able to lead by example with a child-centred approach.
Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.
A passionate advocate for children and young people, committed to achieving the best outcomes.
Experience opening a new home is desirable but not essential.
