The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead and develop a children’s residential home across Derbyshire. This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring high-quality, child-centred care and full compliance with the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Ofsted Quality Standards.
You will be accountable for achieving and maintaining Ofsted registration, leading and inspiring a skilled staff team, and creating a safe, nurturing, and stable environment where children and young people can thrive. The role requires flexibility to work across varying times, including evenings and some weekends, to meet the needs of the service.
Key aspects of the role include:
- Overall leadership, management, and operational oversight of the home
- Ensuring safeguarding, quality of care, and positive outcomes for children
- Recruitment, supervision, development, and performance management of staff
- Maintaining regulatory compliance and driving continuous improvement
- Managing budgets, rotas, and day-to-day operations
About You
You are a confident, values-driven leader with a strong background in residential childcare and a clear commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. You lead with professionalism, empathy, and resilience, and you are comfortable managing competing priorities in a regulated environment.
You will ideally have:
- A Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to undertake)
- Significant experience working in a children’s residential home
- Proven experience supervising or managing staff
- A strong understanding of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Ofsted Quality Standards
- Sound safeguarding knowledge and the ability to act as Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills
You will also be able to:
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children, families, staff, and professionals
- Maintain high standards of documentation and compliance
- Work flexibly, remain calm under pressure, and demonstrate emotional resilience
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.
