Here at Hampton’s Resourcing we are delighted to be working in partnership with a prestigious Local Authority in seeking a Registered Manager for their Ofsted ‘Good’ secure children’s unit for young offenders based in Yate, South Gloucestershire.
The Role: Registered Manager – Secure Unit
- Develop and manage operational and working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and partners in order to influence others in the delivery of the service, resolve complex issues, and promote the best interests of the Council and its residents
- Analyse areas where measures are to be put in place to manage risks and ensure that the service is compliant with all relevant legislation and statutory requirements. Support the planning and implementation of required business or service change across the Council within the managed area, to respond to medium to long term risks
- Manage, motivate, and support the development of staff, ensuring a highly competent and participative work environment, defining and managing the performance against agreed performance indicators to ensure delivery of an excellent service to the Council and its residents
- As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the home meets all Ofsted regulatory requirements, does well in inspections and that young people are cared for according to legal and regulatory requirements
- You will ensure that the home is financially viable and that resources, including staffing, are used effectively and efficiently and that financial monitoring and review mechanisms are in place and used in accordance with the Council’s budgetary framework
Skills and Experience:
- Must have Level 3 in Residential Childcare, ideally level 5
- Experience working with young offenders or in a similar secure unit
- Proven experience of delivering strategic policy direction and leadership, operational management and financial control
- Must have experience as a Registered Manager in an Ofsted regulated setting
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills and the ability to build consensus at a political, senior and management level, to act as council advocates, influencing the external policy agenda
- Experience of leading complex, multi-faceted projects delivering organisational development and innovation

About:
This Secure Children’s Home is a 24-bed home, licensed by the Department for Education to provide secure accommodation for children and young people aged under 18 years, from all over England and Wales. The aim and function of the Home is to design and implement individual therapeutic intervention for the young people with a view to rehabilitation into the community.
