About the Role

We are seeking compassionate, resilient, and motivated Children’s Residential Support Workers to join a family-run organisation dedicated to providing safe, nurturing, and stable homes for children and young people.

This is a highly rewarding frontline role where you will act as a positive role model, supporting children to develop confidence, independence, and emotional stability. You will play a vital part in helping young people overcome challenges, build trusting relationships, and move towards brighter futures within a supportive residential environment.

Key Responsibilities

Care & Support

  • Act as a consistent, positive role model for children and young people

  • Provide day-to-day care, emotional support, and guidance

  • Support children with daily routines, education, hobbies, and activities

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour

  • Celebrate achievements and support children through challenges

Safeguarding & Wellbeing

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately

  • Support children’s emotional wellbeing and resilience

  • Contribute to behaviour support strategies and care plans

Teamwork & Communication

  • Work effectively as part of a supportive staff team

  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, professionals, and families

  • Participate in handovers, meetings, and training

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation

Personal Development

  • Engage in training, supervision, and professional development

  • Work towards required qualifications in Residential Childcare

  • Demonstrate commitment to learning and career progression

About You

Essential

  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people

  • Patience, empathy, and resilience

  • Ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations

  • Commitment to safeguarding and putting children first

  • Willingness to complete (or already hold) a Level 3 or 4 Diploma/NVQ in Residential Childcare

  • Ability to work as part of a team

Desirable

  • Experience working with children and young people

  • Previous experience in residential childcare (not essential)

  • Interest in progressing into senior or management roles
