We are excited to be recruiting for a Responsible Individual to oversee a specialist children’s home in Telford that supports children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a respected provider and play a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality care, compliance, and positive outcomes for the children we support.

The home offers a warm, therapeutic environment in a rural setting with access to extensive facilities including sensory rooms, outdoor activity areas, and woodland spaces. Our focus is on person-centred care, helping children build independence, develop life skills, and thrive emotionally and socially.


The Role

As the Responsible Individual, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic leadership, oversight, and accountability for the children’s home.

  • Supporting and supervising the Registered Manager to deliver high-quality, child-centred care.

  • Ensuring full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Quality Standards, and Ofsted frameworks.

  • Championing therapeutic, person-centred approaches to care for children with learning disabilities.

  • Promoting safeguarding practices, acting as Designated Safeguarding Lead where required.

  • Building strong relationships with local authorities, regulators, and external professionals.

  • Monitoring and improving service quality, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children.

  • Supporting staff development, training, and performance monitoring.


About You
To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • At least 2+ years of proven experience as a Responsible Individual within children’s residential care.

  • A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent/commitment to complete).

  • Strong working knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, Ofsted inspection frameworks, and safeguarding legislation.

  • Demonstrable experience supporting children and young people with learning disabilities and complex needs.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills, with the ability to mentor and guide a Registered Manager effectively.

  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

  • A full UK driving licence.
