SEN Teacher
We’re looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join a supportive, specialist school in Peterborough, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs.
About the Role
As an SEN Teacher, you will be responsible for leading a small class of Key Stage 4 students, delivering a primary-level curriculum tailored to their individual needs.
You will create a positive and engaging learning environment, supporting students to develop academically, socially, and emotionally. The role requires a creative and adaptable teaching approach, ensuring students remain motivated while managing low-level behaviour effectively.
You will work closely with a wider multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff, to deliver a holistic, therapeutic approach to education.
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Peterborough, with working hours of 8:30am – 4:00pm (Monday to Friday) and 8:30am – 5:00pm on Wednesdays.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver personalised learning programmes
Teach a broad curriculum at primary level to Key Stage 4 students
Support students’ communication, social, and life skills development
Manage behaviour positively and effectively
Monitor progress and adapt teaching to meet individual needs
Work collaboratively with therapists, staff, and families
About You
Experience working within an SEN environment
Strong understanding of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Creative, patient, and engaging teaching style
Ability to build strong relationships with students and staff
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience supporting learners with autism and complex needs
Knowledge of therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches
