About the Role

We are seeking committed, caring, and experienced Residential Childcare Professionals to join a values-driven, family-run organisation providing residential placements for children and young people aged 8–18 years.

This role involves providing day-to-day care, leading shifts, and supporting both young people and staff to deliver therapeutic, safe, and nurturing care in line with legislation, safeguarding standards, and organisational policies.

Key Responsibilities

Care & Support

  • Provide high-quality day-to-day care to children and young people

  • Act as a positive role model for young people and colleagues

  • Support children with activities, education, and statutory meetings

  • Deliver direct work with children using a therapeutic approach

  • Promote children’s physical, emotional, and social development

Leadership & Teamwork

  • Lead shifts and support the effective running of the home

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to implement and review care plans

  • Support staff to work within legal frameworks, policies, and procedures

  • Promote consistent, child-centred and therapeutic practice

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children at all times

  • Apply safeguarding knowledge and best practice in daily care

  • Ensure the home operates in line with childcare legislation and Ofsted standards

Administration & Reporting

  • Complete routine administrative tasks

  • Write clear and accurate reports, including progress, review, and incident reports

  • Maintain accurate records in line with organisational and regulatory requirements

Environment & Daily Living

  • Maintain high standards within the home environment

  • Support young people to take responsibility for personal and communal spaces

  • Assist with cooking, cleaning, and general household routines

About You

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent)

  • At least 2 years’ experience working in children’s homes or a similar role

  • Experience supporting young people with ASC, mental health needs, and/or emotional and behavioural difficulties

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and best practice

  • Knowledge of childcare legislation

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Clean, up-to-date DBS

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances

  • Resilience and confidence in managing challenging behaviour
