The Role: Service Director – Commissioning

The role operates across two Directorates – Adults and Childrens Services as well as a key responsibility in ensuring that the benefits of shared and collaborative commissioning  across the wider system and Councils and partner organisations are realised and that fiscal and service performance is constantly improved. 

The Service Director will report to the executive director of adults and will lead on the commissioning of the following services:

Adult services, including Older People, Carers, Sensory Impairment, Learning Disabilities, Autism and Mental Health.
Children’s services, including services for children with complex and Special Education needs, children requiring social care support, children in care and children at risk in terms of child protection
Working with public health on Health and Wellbeing services, Healthy Child Programme, School Nursing, Health Visiting
Working with ICS partners on development of mental health and other community and acute services
Early Help services and integrated services for children, young people and adults that are either delivered and managed by the Council or by the NHS as a delegated arrangement.

About you: The ideal candidates will have the following:

Extensive experience and proven track record at senior management level of successfully commissioning people services, including joint commissioning and collaboration with partners, in a complex stakeholder environment (either in local government or other large and complex organisations).
Extensive experience of providing leadership and direction to and across a diverse range of services.
