The Role
Our client is seeking a Team Leader to support the safe and effective day-to-day running of their residential service in Northampton.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced childcare professional to play a key role in supporting young people’s physical, emotional, and social development, while leading and guiding a team of residential care staff. You will work closely with the Manager to ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, and operational effectiveness are consistently maintained.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the home alongside the Manager
- Leading and supervising staff to ensure safe, high-quality care practices
- Creating a warm, structured, and nurturing environment for young people
- Implementing and reviewing care plans, maintaining accurate records and reports
- Coordinating daily routines, delegating tasks, and overseeing shift activities
- Participating in activities with residents (e.g. sports, outings, games)
- Administering medication and maintaining required documentation
- Attending and contributing to meetings, reviews, and training sessions
- Acting as a positive role model for staff and young people
- Liaising with families and external professionals (e.g. social workers)
- Responding appropriately to challenging behaviour, including physical intervention where required
- Undertaking sleep-in duties as part of the role
About You
You are a committed and experienced residential childcare professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for supporting young people.
Essential knowledge and skills:
- Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential childcare within the last 5 years
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- A caring, resilient, and proactive approach
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes challenging environment
