SEMH Headteacher - Bristol - Up to £65K

Here at Hamptons we are delighted to be working in partnership with a well-established and dedicated children's residential care provider who are on the lookout for an experienced and passionate Headteacher for their small independent specialist school for young people who have been diagnosed with autism and SEMH needs based in Warmley, Bristol. This school provides education for children and young people in key stage 2-4 who have autism and associated social, emotional and mental health development needs that impact upon their emotional health and wellbeing and create barriers to learning. This provision is a diverse and dynamic community of dedicated staff members and individual, inspiring young people. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To promote and celebrate high standards through ensuring compliance with the Independent School Standards, company ethos, policies and procedures and outstanding practice in all aspects of the school
  • To develop, plan, teach and assess appropriate educational programmes across the curriculum for individuals and groups
  • To be instrumental in overseeing the development, monitoring and implementation of the individual young people's PEP and EHCP
  • To manage and operate budgets and monitor ongoing
  • To develop and maintain good working relationships with parents, social workers, and other professionals involved with the young people
  • To ensure that staff plan, monitor and review the progress of pupils attending the school

Skills and Experience:

  • Must have a minimum qualification of QTS (NPQH is ideal)
  • Minimum 4 years' experience working in a SEND setting within a school at SENCO or Deputy Head level
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Independent School Standards and the Inspection Framework
  • Ability to work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with a wide variety of people inside and outside the school
